Cleveland officer charged in Mentor bank heist
Wallace E. Cowper, a 31 year old Cleveland police officer, was arrested by the FBI in Eastlake on charges of aiding abetting and participating in the $316 000 Lake County National Bank robbery at the Great Lakes Mall Mentor on September 12. The heist involved two men in gray Brinks style uniforms who loaded six money bags and left in an armored car. If convicted Cowper faces up to 10 years in prison and a 5000 fine.
