A nationwide probe planned under the National Recovery Act aims to curb price gouging in everyday items. The study will survey over 400 cities and retail groups to assess production costs and price fixing, with a permanent organization to monitor retail costs across channels.
Secretary Henry A. Wallace warned that price fixing is not a cure for inflation and production problems. He told the Association that attempts to fix prices will fail and could worsen the demand-supply imbalance, urging cautious measures and noting tariff and stock issues.

Gordon B. Gray formerly of Marietta has started a law practice in Athens with L. G. Worstell, offices in the Security Savings Bank Building. A 1931 Ohio State University Law School graduate and 1928 Marietta College Phi Beta Kappa, Gray came from Hillsboro where he practiced two years. He is unmarried, attends the Methodist Church and votes the Republican ticket.
Lima jurors found Art Miller a 42 year old roadhouse proprietor guilty of second degree murder in the shooting death of Roy B. Borges aged 28 after a six day trial concluding Tuesday.

Ohio Supreme Court denies Columbus Gas & Fuel Company rehearing of its rate case. Thomas Malone of Chicago, an escaped robber from Allen County, was arrested in Chicago and is to be returned to London Prison Farm. He fled December 12, 1930, a day before parole. He married, had a child, and worked as a steel worker before his capture. He faces two more years for the escape.

Theodore Lobse of Salem was fined $25 and costs by Magistrate C. H Porter after pleading guilty to possessing a fox pelt. State Game Protector B. F Swartz arrested him. Thurston Stone of Millfield pleaded guilty to failing to provide for a minor child and was released on $200 bond.
