Local Deputy Highlights Canine Work and Athens County Roots
Born and raised in Athens John Kulchar serves as a deputy with the Athens County Sheriff's Office. A former Athens High School student and Hocking College attendee, he earned OPOTA certification, joined the Marine Corps Reserves, and began law enforcement in 2006 before joining the sheriff's office in January 2012. He and his canine partners train daily to track suspects and locate narcotics, with Ijo joining June 15 to continue a proven legacy. Kulchar enjoys fitness, outdoor events, and aims to skydive, while hoping for more local amenities like Olive Garden, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Cabella's in Athens County.
