Price Index Rises Slightly in Last Week of September
Wholesale commodity prices edged up 0.2 points led by gains in farm and food products and metals. Fuels fell sharply, while cattle hogs and wheat posted modest changes. A larger cotton crop estimate came too late to lift the index, and U S and Canada export figures showed mixed trends. The farmer strike across western states had little impact on prices.
