John A Armstrong aged 63 died at his Upper Sandusky home after a week illness from a stroke. A Civil War veteran of Ge I 212, he lived in Athens, Marshfield, New Lexington, and later ran a creamery in Upper Sandusky. He was a mason and Presbyterian church member.

Neusesxvitnn September 10 Hastings Hawk aged 2 was killed at the coal washery when a cut of cars loosened and struck the car he worked on. Seven cars passed over him cutting his body in two. He was conscious until the end and funeral services were held at Graham Chapel in Lodi township conducted by Rev Massie.

Vance Ogan of Mearthor, from the Eleventh Congressional District, passed the Athens exam in June for admission to the Annapolis Naval Academy. He succeeded at Annapolis and is admitted as a cadet after a tough test with four failures in other branches.
