Nelsonville Council approves funds for water patch and police needs
Nelsonville City Council, in emergency session, passed five resolutions and two ordinances chiefly shaping finances. They authorized a $25 000 bank deposit to earn interest, funded recreation and water survey projects, and allocated police cruiser and incident funds. The body also eyed Route 216 highway work, water supply tests, and sewer improvements with multiple cost estimates and staffing notes. Halsie Albright pleaded guilty to intoxication in Mayor Hoffman's court and was fined.

Law Forbids City Land Purchase From Bentley
Nelsonville city solicitor William A. Lavelle told the City Council that the city cannot contract to obtain land owned by Gerald Bentley as he is a former official. An Ohio Revised Code section prohibits officials from selling or leasing land to a subdivision within a year of leaving office. The council discussed condemnation options to acquire the land needed for a test well to assess water, with a jury setting the price.
