Blood Drive Faces Serious Shortfall in Athens County

Mrs. Hunter E. Hope chairs the Athens County blood program warning of a serious shortage that may affect residents. At a Columbus Regional Blood Center meeting it was reported Athens County is lagging the quota for a second year. For the period June 1994 to June 1955 the county achieved 46 percent of the 2100 pints target, with 1081 pints collected January to June 30, of which 312 pints were used in local hospitals. If donations do not rise the drive will stay on emergency status, with a blood mobile in Nelsonville September 12 and Athens dates October 10 and November 28. Residents are urged to save dates and contribute to reach 100 percent.
