Holder aged 18 and Frank Hawks Chew aged 19 both of Livie Rork Arkansas were arraigned in Columbus police court on charges linked to a gang that robbed the Hoofstetter Cigar Company in downtown Columbus. Police said they confessed six robberies across three states including the Hoofstetter holdups that netted about $2000. Columbus secured custody and prosecution as officers from seven cities je t in Dayton guarded the pair back to Columbus.

Two Buchtel men were fined $100 and costs each by Magistrate Carl T H Porter Tuesday. The will of State Senator George H. Carl B. Wilson of Athens and C. E. Jonas of Glouster were among 30 men accepted as members of Ohio's new state highway patrol. They will be sworn in in Columbus on November 15 and enforce motor vehicle laws with discretion and courtesy, forbidding entrapment and bullying tactics. Capt. Lynn Black heads the patrol.

A wealthy manufacturer was kidnapped at his plant by two men and a woman and forced to open the safe. They took cash, injured a guard named Waltz, and fled in a car before releasing the victim three miles south of Battle Creek. The purse of the assailants remains unknown.
Cecil Harding, 21, of McArthur, is in critical condition after a shooting at a place run by Roy Downing's mother on Route 75. Downing, 16, was arrested by Sheriff Harold Purtee of Vinton County and jailed in DeArthur on a shooting to kill charge.
