A high school football coach sustained a broken ankle after a practice miscue yesterday afternoon at Great Arms Hospital. The injury occurred during a drill when a player tackled him, ending his participation for the day.
A 1933 tan tin Miss Helen Dun, a high school teacher, rooms at Hopkins 24 Morris. The car was stolen in front of the hotel late Monday, leaving a missing person inquiry and police search underway.
Plans are underway for the Annual Messe Cooking School starting next Tuesday in the Athens Senior High Auditorium. Mrs George Thurn will guide all sessions, offering new recipes and homemaking ideas with demonstrations by her seasoned expertise. Athens County gets 1728 of the eighth distribution from motor vehicle license tag sales for 1935. Total county receipts were 2400 with 72 percent for local subdivisions. Athens city gets 175 and other towns receive smaller shares. Distribution across 8 counties totaled 501264 approved by Frank West, registrar of motor vehicles.
Five Athens County youths enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp Athens, raising the county October quota to 96. Chinese Nationalist Government officials backed by intensified military activity in Nanking adopted a more defiant stance toward Japanese pressure on North China. An official spokesman and leaders across government voiced that China had reached its limit in yielding to further Japanese demands.

The Ohio Collieries Co. selling a 10 000 acre coal mining tract in Athens County to Sugar Creek Coal Mining Co. of Athens Ohio. George M. Jones Co. Dayton authorities informed Sheriff Charles Stratton that the owner of the automobile left near Graham Chapel in Lodi Township has been located and will come to Athens County to recover it. No trace has been found of the youths alleged to have driven it from Dayton to Athens County.

Auburn Maine sheriff says 28 year old Guy Cressey confessed to killing and criminally assaulting 12 year old Annie Knights at Fairfield on October 7. He was arrested after a separate charge of assaulting a 14 year old Livermore student. Knights body found October 9 in alder bushes near a highway.
A Columbus mother of two died after she allegedly mixed insect powder into biscuit dough by mistake. Coroner Edward E. Smith ordered an autopsy. Her children Evelyn 8 and Ruth 6 were hospitalized after the incident.

In Sanford North Carolina, Franklin Woodrow Jordan was born underwater after his mother, 24 year old Mrs Alton L Jordan, fell into a well. The baby did not breathe for about 20 minutes and was revived by medical staff. both mother and child were reported improving after hospital treatment.

Geauga County dairy farmers voted to press for higher wholesale milk rates from Cleveland distributors. The meeting began a week of gatherings in fifteen Northern Ohio counties as farmers seek about 19.5 per hundredweight for Class 1 milk, up from the current 1.50 to 1.60.

Gallipolis Ohio Staff Special reports former Gallipolis police chief Glade Jones was injured Monday night when his car rear ended a northbound truck driven by James Pethel Jr. Jones was taken to Holzer Hospital with cuts above the right eye. Lawrence County driver Nadon Fridwardse signed an affidavit charging Pethel with driving while intoxicated.
J Arthur House president of Guardian Trust Co surrendered to federal authorities and left for Lewinburg Pennsylvania to serve a six year sentence for misapplication of funds. He was convicted of misapplying $4000 and making fake entries and fined $10 400.
Two fatalities were added to Cantons traffic toll as Helen Gulst, 40, and Eimer Fell, 47, died Monday night in separate accidents.
