Oct 28 marks the 50th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty on Bedloe's Island New York. The statue, a gift from France, stands for freedom hope and courage guiding people toward independent thought and action.
President Roosevelt spoke at Bedloe Island marking the Statue of Liberty’s 50th anniversary. He hailed a future better civilization, urged persistent defense of liberty, and praised immigrants while touring Staten Island Brooklyn and Manhattan. He quoted Californians on the forty-niners and noted the non political nature of the address.
Mrs. Sidney Fadely was elected Southeast Director of the Parent-Teacher Association at the Ohio Congress convention in Toledo last week. She will succeed Mrs. Wayne Booth of Gallipolis as Southeast Director. Racine Sutton PTA meets Tuesday at the High School and will host the Meigs Council Friday night.
