Glouster Considers Four Mill Levy for Schools

Glouster voters will decide on a four mill tax levy for exempted village schools plus a one mill operating levy on November 8. If approved the total will be 12.7 mills with 3.7 mills under the 10 mill limit and nine mills as voted operating levies. Superintendent L G DeLong notes new 1956 legislation requires at least 10 mills for operation and the state may withhold aid from districts under that threshold. The Glouster budget, about $100,000 in recent years, is expected to rise for 1956-57, increasing advantages for students.
