On The Square Walnut Crop Good This Year
Walnut trees in Ohio yield a large crop this year. Gather nuts in the countryside on back roads for eating and baking once properly dried. Beech nuts are scarce and tedious to harvest. Leaves fall and color fades, revealing wildlife and other nature sights. Scout training emphasizes silent movement to observe birds and animals, a trait valued in survival and military contexts. Overnight Scout hikes covered back roads with long miles and brief meals. One barefoot hiker completed a 14 mile trek despite rough feet.
