Two Parachute Safely From Plane Near Albany Disaster
A Beechcraft AT 11 photo plane ran low on fuel over Albany and the crew parachuted to safety. Major John H. Van Cleave and Lt. S K Summers landed near Carpenter State Experimental Farm, while the twin engine plane crashed into a barn on Vesta Robinson’s farm killing a cow. The craft was destroyed, no fire. Summers stood guard overnight, then traveled with local residents for aid. Patrolmen secured the wreckage as Red Cross volunteers served coffee and sandwiches to those on duty.

Grower May Sell Beans And Buy Protein Meal
Irvin A. Wolfe of Athens County AAA says growers can sell beans instead of storing them for livestock feed. If meal supply is scarce, a grower lacking regular access to protein meal may receive a certificate to obtain protein meal from the 20 percent set aside. Wolfe notes soybean meal feeds livestock better and bean oil has wartime value, with certificates limited by livestock numbers, feed on hand, and 1944 soybeans sold.
