County officials debate relief provisions tied to a millage levy set at 2.50 mills. A November 5 vote would determine funding from state and federal sources, with discussions on tax impacts, bond issues, and potential special elections to approve or deny the money for relief programs.
A car crash at a guarded crossing left one dead and four injured. The victims include Mr and Mrs age 36 from New Lex are hospitalized with unspecified injuries. Sheriff Mo led arrests of three men after the incident.
Leo E. Graf age 36 of Athens died after his car left State Route 31 and overturned near Enterprise. Passenger Delbert Freeman and John Anderson of Logan were seriously hurt. Graf leaves a widow and three children. The crash site is near a stretch where several fatalities occurred in May.
Ohio Supreme Court refuses to force an early election to fill the Congress at Large seat created by the death of Charles V Truax. Governor Davey will hold regular May primary and November 1936 elections. Mrs. Maude L. Hess mother of Robert C. Hess died in Fostoria at 10 p m Wednesday night from a heart attack. She had been active in Ohio Republican work and taught in local schools. Survived by her son Dr Charles Hess and husband, the funeral will be held Friday at 3 p m at the Presbyterian Church in Fostoria.
Fairfield County prosecutor John Silbaugh of Lancaster planned talks with Detective Chief Eugene Ebright about an altercation in which Silbaugh was beaten. Two men admitted involvement but claimed he struck first. Ebright said five men attacked without motive. unless Silbaugh pursued charges, the case was considered washed.
New York police seek 21 year old gunman Albert Stern linked to the Schultz gang killings. Authorities pursue Stern after Amberg’s ax murder and a Schultz lieutenant wounded in a Broadway barber shop. Investigators fear a coordinated Newark and Manhattan gang purge as they widen the probe.
Directors of the Pittsburgh Coal Company withhold authority for executives to sign the coal code under the Guffey Act. President J. D. A. Morrow says no signatory action until board approval and warns of four-year commitments and uncertain future rulings by the United States Coal Commission.
Columbus report from the Works Progress Administration releases a state wide preliminary labor inventory estimating 213,200 eligible persons. The total WPA jobs number reaches 334,621 with county counts including 3,206 in Athens 960 in Hocking 2,809 in Vinton 1,666 in Gallia and 1,151 in Lawrence.
The Forest Service reported 680000 trees planted on 690 acres of Ohio national forest land during a record year. Fall planting is under way with CCC and relief labor on lands recently acquired by the government.
A Baltimore & Ohio freight train crashed into an automobile on Wednesday near Fred erightong seven miles north of Mt Vernon, killing two men. Emergency crews responded to the scene and investigated the collision as a fatal incident.

Mrs. Vina Roberts 65 died Monday noon at her Albany home after a heart attack. She leaves a daughter Lelia Roberts of Columbus, four sisters, three brothers. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Albany Methodist Church with burial in Salem Center Cemetery. Rev. Ba linger to conduct.
A CCC truck collided with a car in Columbus killing 20 year old Joseph Kaptuska of Youngstown and injuring nine including Dr. E T Kirkendall a prominent Columbus surgeon. The truck was driven by John Hawes of Spring Valley.

Columbus report says the House Finance Committee moved to rewrite the biennial appropriation with near 1.5 million in restorations after Governor Davey vetoed eight million eight hundred thousand. CAMBRIDGE. John Polas ky of Salesville charged John Chipto age 45 of Akron with grand larceny today. He says Chipto induced him to withdraw 1502 dollars from a bank and then gave him a drugged cigarette. Polasky states he woke to find the money missing.

Dr G Bromley Oxnam and Rabbi James G Heller address divisions, Florence Cane and Mary Ward lead art themes, with Ohio University figures greeting guests before the football game.
Willie Saunders a Derby and Preakness rider and Walter Schaeffer denied involvement in the slaying of Mrs. Evelyn Sliwincki at a wild party. Saunders posted a $5,000 bond for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 31. Schaeffer, driver of the car, is in Baltimore custody facing extradition and the two men dispute a witness claim that the car deliberately struck the victim.
