Summer recreation program recommendations heard

Frank Downhour presented a set of proposals to the Nelsonville recreation commission for next year. He urged closing the pool the Saturday before Parade of the Hills if it falls in August for cost reasons and low attendance, and called for repairs to the pool deck lighting system and roof drain. He proposed sand fills for the filter, leak detection preventing overnight losses up to 25 000 gallons, re employment of staff with better organization, and season tickets for recreational swimming only. He also proposed a new ball diamond lunching three Little League leagues with at least four teams each, trophies for winners, early tennis court lighting, designated parking, seeding behind the pumphouse, and certified umpires for Little League. He thanked city officials and supporters, calling their work a pleasure.
