Jenkins Outlines New World War II Bonus Plan at Pomeroy Meeting
Congressman Thomas A. Jenkins spoke to more than 180 at the Pomeroy Courthouse detailing a proposed bill to pay veterans in need of funds. The plan would exclude federal and governmental employes and those with steady incomes, with phased payments possible in 1933 and 1934. He linked the debate to broader economic strains and urged adjustment to labor-saving devices as the cure. The event followed by a stop in Middleport and included local visitors and family notices from Athens area communities.
