Mrs Dishong Dies At Straitsville

Mrs Beatrice Donnelly Dishong wife of Albert of New Straitsville died suddenly Tuesday morning from an attack. Her husband, son Robert in France, a daughter Doris at home, and mother, stepfather were at New Straitsville Friday afternoon for the services.

Nelsonville Soldier Dies in France in World War I

Pvt. John W. Courtney of Nelsonville was killed in action in France on Sept. 21. He is survived by his wife Violet and three children Billy 8 Shirley 6 and Beverly 2. Also his mother Mrs. Laura Courtney of Watkins, Nelsonville two sisters Mrs. Emma Dailey and Mrs. William O’Nall and three brothers William, Charles of Nelsonville and Edward of Chauncey.

Burchfield Direct Meeting in Columbus Ohio

Lowden Estate Reported in Franklin County Court

Earl E. Lowden of Columbus former Nelsonville resident died September 28 leaving an estate valued at 38567 dollars. Inventory filed in Franklin County probate court shows 25600 dollars in real estate and 1831 dollars in securities. The widow Florence Lowden and son Max L. Lowden inherit.

Charles Hill Dies Thursday in Nelsonville

Charles J. Hill aged 78 died Thursday evening at his home 442 Pleasantview Ave in Nelsonville He was born to David and Mary Ann Green Hill and worked 45 years as a bookkeeper for Johnson Coal later Lorain Coal and Dock Co in East Ohio He is survived by wife Anna Johnson Hill three daughters and five grandchildren plus two great grandchildren and one sister Funeral arrangements not completed and body at daughter Gerald Nelsons home for viewing

Cars Crash Near City Cab on Columbus Street

Police reported a collision near the cab station on Columbus Street about 7:30 Wednesday evening. Garnet Hook of Clinton Street drove east, and Red Tyo of Nelsonville Cab Co. drove from the station parking area. front ends collided with damage to Hook’s right front fender and slight damage to the cab. Tyo said Hook was being driven without tights.

War Work Is Being Featured by Club Red Cross

War Work Is Being Featured by Club at Redross' Chapter House Thursday. Members worked on baby gowns, dooties, kitsags and one pair of army gloves during their evening. A press correspondent was appointed and Mrs L Hillard named to serve. Those present included Mrs James Boyles Mrs Hugh Little Mrs Achard Robinson Mrs Marvin Dicken and Mrs Marion Allen. They will meet again in two weeks to urge wives of men in service to join the effort for Red Cross aid and social time.

Delta Theta Tau sorority in Logan held a Wednesday social at Miss Dorothy Roberts on South Market Street with Halloween decorations.
