In Pomeroy two men faced fines for hunting without valid licenses after a dated license backfired on August 15. William Heiney of Apple Grove claimed a license from Chester Simpson of Racine, while Simpson was arrested for falsifying records. Heiney paid 25 dollars plus costs and lost hunting rights for a year. Simpson’s license selling commission was revoked and he paid 25 dollars plus costs.
In Scottsbluff Nebraska and Topeka Kansas two couples planned marriage despite injuries and illness. C W Swanson of Morrill Nebraska, injured in an auto crash, wed at Methodist Hospital with Grace Morris of Scottsbluff present. Lerned Kansas and Laverne Smith of Topeka moved their ceremony to Christ's Hospital with Felix Ernest as best man.
