McArthur police seek clues to a clothing burglary gang active in three Ohio cities within four days. The group robbed Reed's Store in McArthur on Wednesday night taking about 100 men's suits and hit similar shops in Zanesville Sunday night and Belleville Tuesday night.

Leo Potts a 32 year old Stedman Co employee was seriously hurt when struck by an elevator in the packing house basement. He lives at 22 Walker Street and suffered scalp and facial wounds. X rays will be taken at Sheltering Arma Hospital Friday to check possible neck vertebrae fracture. Potts had placed his head through an opening to see why the elevator had stopped below his floor when it started and he was struck by the iron screen above the door.
Fred A. Shumway of Syracuse is appointed administrator of Victor Sponagle estate by Meigs County Probate Court after Sponagle died by hanging in Meigs County Jail on Oct 7. The will dated Dec 3, 1934 leaves Dayton building loan shares to Mrs. Shick Akron and Victor Sponagle Jr. Peach Fork gets personal property to cousin Victor Genheimer. a $10,000 veterans policy also noted. Sponagle faced murder charges in his sister’s death Oct 3, with the death by own action following a family dispute over estate.
A grass fire on North Hill behind the National Guard Armory was extinguished by the Athens Fire Department. Firefighters battled flames on Dr. W. N. Alderman’s property with brush and trees burned but no injuries reported.
Daniel Moore a former Virginia slave aged 106 died Wednesday in Springfield. He came to the city many years ago from Gallipoli where he went after the Civil War.
