He moved to Athens in 1839, ran a Jerseyville mercantile business, served as infirmary director and seven years on the board of commissioners, helping build the county's first pikes. He remarried to Elizabeth Millikan. Burial at Jerseyville M E Church Sunday at 2 PM.
