Federal Hocking Board Sets Short and Long Term Goals
Federal Hocking Supt Charles Caniford presented a list of current and long range goals to the school board. Immediate aims include reviewing state standards and identifying deficiencies, advancing math and special education programs, reducing a 75000 deficit, creating staff evaluation methods, and building a district communications network. Long range goals focus on curriculum and staff improvement while maintaining sound management. The board formed a planning committee with members and teachers to assess needs, hired Lois Sauer as high school GAA adviser for $1000, and considered intramural and cheerleading posts but paused due to salary concerns. Elizabeth Elmore and Nancy Rogers will attend a state conference in Columbus with Rogers presenting a paper.
