Miriam Hochwald of Ohio University urged AAUW members to be active in all kinds of organizations to alter social conditions. The assistant professor of government spoke Thursday night joined by Carol Barnett, OU instructor in Black studies, in presenting the call for women's broader civic engagement.
Athens panel with Barbara Daniels and Miss Hochwald sponsored by AAUW explored women’s limited campaign roles and urged expanding participation. They stressed day care centers, better conditions for female workers, and social change as immediate priorities while cautioning that the Equal Rights Amendment would not benefit unorganized women who lack union protection.
