The Plains Volunteer Fire Department sponsored Boy Scout Troop 58 in a Monday court of honor for eight scouts advancing in rank. Jeff Day and David Falk earned tenderfoot awards. Two Alarms Answered by Athens Fire Department
Athens Fire Department responded to two alarms on Monday. At 3:08 p.m. Mrs. Sue Brown, 31, fell unconscious from a stairs injury at 115 East State Street and received oxygen on the way to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital. At 5:28 p.m. Mark Crawford, 21, from Parks Hall, was treated after being struck under the chin during football at the Jaycees athletic field and taken to Hudson Health Center. Guysville Savannah Lodge 466 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Tri-County Board Wins Approval On Expansion
The Ohio Board of Education dissolved two joint vocational districts and endorsed expansion plans. The South-Central JVSD joins Hamilton County JVSD, and Jackson-Vinton merges with the new Gallia County JVSD.
