Ferrin Rowland a stolid woodsman farmer who confessed twisting a wire around the necks of his two small stepdaughters and drowning them in a lake near Pontiac Mich hanged himself in his cell. He formed an improvised rope from ticking strips and tied it to a cell bar then jumped from a cot to die breaking his neck. Deputy Burt found him dead after returning to take him to the prosecutor's office. He had written two notes directing how his property should be divided.

Funeral is 2 pm Saturday at Ewing Funeral Home with Rev T E Maness officiating and Beech Grove burial.

Cincinnati report says Joe Brady aged 43 of Hamilton was released on 1500 dollar bond after arraignment on charge of violating internal revenue laws. He waived examination before U S Commissioner William P Hohmann. His wife Blanche was dismissed on a similar charge. They were arrested Sept 29 at Middletown with 30 gallons of whiskey found in Brady's car.
Fire alarm sounded but responders delayed as gasoline had been drained from the truck. Officials report the thief also stole a first aid kit and eight bridge tables from the fire station after the blaze.
About 600 students and Athens residents gathered at Union Station to cheer Ohio University football players as they left for Cleveland to face John Carroll. Don Peden and O C Bird thanked the crowd and pledged strong effort, while the university band playedStand Up and Cheer and Alma Mater Ohio.

Louis EB Kahn, 30, vice-president of E Kahn Sons Co a large meat-packing company, told police he was kidnapped by two youths Thursday night and released in an outlying area early today wearing only underwear and a vest. He said his purse containing 25 dollars a wrist watch worth 250 dollars a 200 dollar ring and his suit and shoes were taken.
Former President Herbert Hoover told Stanford alumni that national and currency policies undermine university endowments. He cited trustees shifting from bonds to stocks, fear of policy effects, and three possible responses including reduced activity, state aid, or larger gifts to preserve endowments. He urged tax relief on gifts and bequests to aid education.
Mandeville W. Zenge, 26, Missouri farmer, told the State's Attorney he demanded death at opening of his Chicago trial for the emasculation murder of Dr. Walter J. Bauer. Bauer was married to Zenge's former sweetheart, Mrs Louise Schaffer Bauer.
Fred R. Baker aged 72 former Athens County surveyor died at 5 am at his Fisher Station home from a cerebral hemorrhage. He served two terms as county surveyor and worked for Republic Coal. He was a member of the Elks Masons and a past patron of the Eastern Star. He leaves his wife three daughters Ruth Taylor of Alexandria Virginia W H Brown and Mary Narney of Athens and two sons Fred Jr of Cleveland and Ralph of Kansas City. Funeral Sunday at 2 pm conducted by Rev Wilbur H Fowler. Burial in West Union Street Cemetery.

Congressman William Lemke attacks losses for farmers while imports from peon labor increase. Hagans repeats as president with Maurice Barr as vice president and Ryan as secretary treasurer.
Alice Roosevelt Longworth, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt, reenters politics by planning to attend a Republican women’s meeting in Columbus. Longworth, widowed since 1931, had been retired after Nicholas Longworth’s tenure as Speaker.
