Phillips Urges Plans for Three Sewage Plants
Athens County health commissioner Dr. H T Phillips urged postwar construction of three sewage disposal plants to curb Hocking River pollution. One plant would serve Athens City and the State Hospital, one for Nelsonville, and a third for Glouster, Jacksonville, and Trimble. A Sunday Creek Valley district would have a single plant serving all three communities. He warned of potential sickness outbreaks and damage suits if plans are delayed, and noted federal aid may later reward prepared towns.
