Dion Byrum returns to Ohio University to enter the Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame, ten years after a pivotal 16 10 overtime win over Pittsburgh. The senior cornerback from Matthews NC intercepted twice for touchdowns, fueling the program’s rise under Frank Solich and a game broadcast on ESPN from Peden Stadium. Byrum’s exploits helped spark belief that Ohio could compete nationally and recruit quality players.
Miami University visits Ohio University at Peden Stadium in Athens for a MAC clash. Miami seeks its first conference win while Ohio aims to extend a strong 4-1 start. ESPN3 carries the game with radio on 105.5 WXTQ-FM.
Dion Byrum Briana Adamovsky Joanne Park and Bob Willet will be inducted into the Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame at the 2015 Alumni Award Gala in the Baker University Center Grand Ballroom. Adamovsky a four year volleyball letter winner and MAC record holder. Byrum a standout defensive back with six interceptions in 2005 and All-MAC honors. Park a swimmer. Willet a baseball alumnus. Athens high school volleyball, led by coach Natalie Bobo, clinches the Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division title outright with a 3-0 win over Wellston. The victory marks Athens third straight league title and extends their league-winning streak to 32 games, as Alexander falls to Nelsonville York.
Alexander defeats Logan 3-2 in a resumed Southeastern Ohio Athletic League soccer match after a weather pause. Michael Norris scored and assisted, Kyle Howard set up the opener from 35 yards, and Norris added a second assist as Alexander built a 3-0 lead before Logan rallied with two late goals.
