Correction outlines council president election in city charter proposal
A correction explains that Section 2.12 of the charter proposal provides for a president of the council to be elected with other council members for four-year terms. The president would act as mayor in absence of the mayor unless a service-safety director is in place. The charter also creates a Department of Finance led by a city auditor and merges the auditor and treasurer roles.

Council Holds Committee Meeting On Water Funds
Nelsonville City Council met in council chambers in a committee of the whole session led by Ward Phillips to consider transferring funds for the water department. The water works fund was overdrafted by the April 24 1963 state audit and ongoing expenditures kept the balance low. The city auditor holds bills against the water works fund until funds are provided. A pipe for the Mason City Hill water line extension had to be purchased. Auditor Mabel Tignor said $17000 in surplus sewer funds could be redirected to water projects if needed.
