ECOT to Close by January Without Court Help

ECOT plans to shutter by January unless Ohio Supreme Court blocks state action to claw back about $60 million for unverified 2015-16 enrollment. Reclaimed funds total $19 million more for 2016-17 after an 18.5 percent shortfall. Court rulings and a looming cash shortfall risk 12,000 students losing options and 800 jobs, with ECOT claiming unlawful clawbacks yet warning further funding losses could force immediate closure.
