Glouster October 4 A 29 year old Pole Otto Barkonur unmarried was struck by a K M train near the No 4 mine in Jacksonville. His right leg and arm were torn off and his skull fractured. He died about 8 PM despite doctors efforts. Funeral held in Jacksonville with burial in the local Catholic cemetery.

Finger Amputation at Brick Plant Incident
Enos Starkey, while on duty at the brick plant Saturday, had the ring finger of his right hand mashed by a heavy paving block. The injury splintered the bone and required amputation of the first joint after Dr. Biddle performed the operation.

In Police Court Two Cases Brought Before Mayor Logan

Burton Arrested After Assault on J. N. Free in Nelsonville
In Nelsonville on October 6 a man named Harry Burton was arrested after attacking J. N. Free at a house shared with E. Shrader and Mrs. Burton. Burton was bound over to the grand jury and jailed in Athens in default of a $200 bond. Different versions emerged from Burton and witnesses.
