Initial Wildlife Reserve Purchase Measure Dead in Athens Session
Athens City Council failed to secure the five affirmative votes needed to approve an emergency ordinance for a 60 acre Peach Ridge wildlife reserve purchase. Council President Harry Crewson cast three tie breaking votes to read the measure, but it failed 3-3 with three members in favor and three opposed. The meeting also discussed Berry Hall redevelopment and possible parking solutions with cost estimates and potential revenue from a new lot.
