Hubbert predicted U.S. oil peak by 1970 as production topped out
In an interview recounting his 1956 forecast, M. King Hubbert cited industry data showing U.S. oil output would peak within 10 to 15 years. He argued that after reaching a peak in 1970 at just over 3 million barrels daily, production would never again match that level. He credited bell-curve biology and the depletion of each new well for the downturn.

Housing Funds May Be Available For Low Income Projects
Mayor Donald Barrett says funds may exist for low income housing under the impacted cities program and will join a Columbus panel to outline rules with the Ohio Development Department. The panel, with Ohio Municipal League Ohio Planning Conference and Ohio Community Development Conference reps, meets Friday to set up workable programs. Barrett warned the amount for Athens is unclear but possible, as the bill took effect last month. In other notes, welfare overpayment concerns arise from requested edit tapes and journals with cases showing clerical errors, while a burglary report notes plate glass windows broken at Moore's Shoe Repair on West Union Street with estimated damage of 240 dollars.
