Columbus Ohio November 27. County auditors say they do not oppose the salary bill but warn that if the local option measure forces the legislature and counties to go dry, the auditors' fee fund drawn largely from liquor taxes could be nearly wiped out. They plan to seek a law to recoup clerk hire costs from other funds if local option passes.

Horace Davis a prominent Kalamazoo jeweler was shot and killed during a struggle with a burglar who escaped. The early morning incident occurred at his jewelry store in Kalamazoo Michigan.

Robbery et al. Near Nekwonville Leaves Pickett Wounded

James Pickett a farmer near Nekwonville was held up by two unmasked men between 4 and 5 pm Monday. They fired a shot, beat him, and robbed him of about 1500 including 25 in gold. Pickett sustained a hip wound and minor head injuries but will recover. No suspects identified.

A Great University Trustee Actions At Athens

Ohio University trustees met in Athens and approved funding for next year's faculty salaries at 710,000. The annual report by President Ellia was reviewed showing over 1,300 students enrolled. The board plans to seek about 135,000 from the legislature for continued work and improvements. Legislative committee adds Boyd Douglas and Duff. Conditions at the university ranked finest in a century.

Sanders Attacks Kin Then Ends Own Life in Norman, Georgia

Associated Dailies reports Lithonia Georgia November 27. Benoch Sanders attacked his niece Bertha Sanders and sister in law Mrs. Alice Sanders wounding them seriously before committing suicide. The weapon was a razor. The niece's throat was cut and her aunt wounded. all three were hospitalized with the two women in peril of death.

In Bellaire Ohio on November 27 a three year old boy Herman son of Charles Beaver burned to death when his clothing caught fire from an open grate during his mother's absence from home.

Mary Simpson aged 18 was seized by two masked thugs near the city outskirts last night bound gagged and beaten left unconscious. She was found this morning by her brother after an all night search. She may die from exposure and extra police have been deployed to curb a spate of indignities.

Alumni Fund Opens With Generous Athens Support

The OU alumni loan fund for needy students in Athens has begun with strong local support about a month after its founding. Contributions total around 900 dollars from citizens including Alston Willie 200, James D. Brown 200, C L Poston 100, W N Alderman 100, Harry G Stalder 100, Baldwin W Chubb 59, along with Philomathean Society 30 and Athenian Society 30. A letter from H G Stalder endorses the enterprise and urges continued public spirit, noting that supporting the university strengthens Athens and loyalty to the institution.
