Finn Nimrod Shoots Wolf in Shoulder in Farm Shooting
Four Finnlanders were arrested near Trimble on a farm owned by Edgar Boudinot after a shooting incident that left Deputy Wolf with a shoulder wound. Three men were fined for hunting without permission. Wolf’s shooting charge was dropped after witnesses said the shooting appeared accidental.

Peter Hixon Dies After Long Illness in Ames Township
Peter Hixon died Friday at his home in Ames township after a two week illness of senile gangrene. A lifelong resident and pioneer of Ames township he was born August 30 1823 in Pennsylvania and moved to Ohio as a boy. He left three sons John Ames and Daniel Hixon. Funeral services were held Sunday at Hooper Ridge church conducted by Rev Haas and he was interred in Hooper Ridge cemetery. Once a major landowner in Athens county he held over eight hundred acres before selling his estates.

Drane's Body Found in Hocking River Near Kimberly
The body of John Drane, 34, was recovered from the Hocking River south of Nelsonville near Kimberly. Bruises on his face and body raise questions of whether death was accidental or caused, with signs suggesting possible suicide. He had been missing about two weeks. The body was taken to Cook's undertaking establishment and buried at Pedigo cemetery.

Stewart Arrested After Altercation at Woodruff Home
L H Stewart was arrested Saturday on assault charges brought by Mary Woodruff of Race Street. He was fined $18.90 after a police court hearing before Mayor Logan and disappeared after claiming he would pay the fine later. Stewart bought trousers and fake whiskers and left Athens on the 12:55 westbound B and O train.
