Clyde Earl Carswenie a Haitian was found guilty of obtaining fifteen dollars from Sheriff Murphy under false pretenses. He received sixty days in the Columbus workhouse and a one hundred dollar fine, with further confinement until costs are paid. Also appealed were Ward and Nail for assault, Bolen damages suit, and multiple minor convictions.

J S Parker and H S Rose of Glouster with D A R McKinstry of Athens bought 26 acres on East State Street formerly owned by Mrs Fanny Minear and nearby 10 acres from Cyrus Rose. They plan to plat the land as Highland Park next year and form the Athens Concrete Block & Building Company to manufacture cement blocks, aiming to erect a factory on the Minear tract.

Death of Emma Steward Aged 14 In Nelsonville
Miss Emma Steward aged 14 of Nelsonville died from injuries after an accident last August near Chase. Her remains were brought to Hebbardsville for funeral services led by Rev. J. H. Kirkpatrick and will be interred at Hebbardsville. She died Monday at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs W S Steward.

Miner Crippen Killed After Mine Car Crash at Mt Pleasant
Electrical foreman Harry A. Crippen aged 47 of Athens died three hours after being crushed in a mine accident at Mt Pleasant Jefferson County. He was wedged between a loaded car and the rib suffering a broken arm and leg and internal injuries. He left a wife and child and was to be buried after services at the Presbyterian church.

A plan called Home Week may be held in Athens to coincide with the Ohio University commencement next June. New York promoter George A. Beaton, longtime Athens resident, envisions reunions for all who ever lived in Athens and attended the university. A centennial commission from the university crowds and alumni has been formed to consider the idea withPresident Ellis and Prof. Higley serving as president and secretary. No direct word from Beaton has arrived yet, but discussions are expected to move forward.
