Ohio hunters cleared for rabbit and game bird season

Ohio officials announced a weekend opening for rabbit, partridge, pheasant and grouse hunting after rain reduced fire risk. The season starts December 5 for pheasant and partridge and January 1 for rabbit and grouse with daily hours 9 am to 5 pm. Bag limits are four rabbits, two cock pheasants, three grouse and two Hungarian partridge. Possession limits rise after opening day for birds and cap rabbits at four after day one.

Union to Appeal $50,000 Fine After Plant Violence

In Columbus, attorney David Clay said Local 927 Unit ed Auto Workers will appeal a $50,000 court fine for violence at the North American Aviation plant. Judge Joseph M. Harter suspended half the fine to $25,000 and ordered restitution for damages. He held the union in contempt of his Oct. 23 restraining order as nine people were injured.

Allies press Communists to release POWs in Korea split

At Panmunjom the Allies charged the Communists with withholding prisoners and demanded immediate transfer of all POWs in Reds’ custody. Maj. Gen. J. K. Lacey told the Military Armistice Commission that three South Korean soldiers who sought refuge at an American sentry box were war captives compelled into the Red army. Salt Filled Shotgun Kills Youth In Indianapolis

In Indianapolis a 24 year old bakery employee named Ernest Poor was fatally shot by a shotgun shell filled with table salt. The blast occurred at the doorway of the home of his divorcee girlfriend. The woman’s mother Frances Sperling, 56, admitted firing the shot and was jailed without bond on murder charges.
