In Colorado, 325 state militia moved into the Columbine mine district amid fears of renewed violence in the south. Five dead and over 60 injured in the I W W strike conflict prompt marshal law talks, with leaders arrested on multiple counts as guards man machine guns and tanks patrol the camps.
An icy northwest wind pushes a cold wave through the middlewest with subzero temps in Canada. North Dakota Minnesota and Nebraska see freezing readings. Dodge City and Williston report eight and thirteen below zero respectively. Edmonton Alberta logs 30 below.
The Public Utilities Commission dismissed two applications from the Athens bus company. One sought extending the Glouster Athens route and the other the Glouster McConnelsville route.
John Beyer a youth informant from Janesville Wisconsin faces a murder charge in Rockford Illinois for the death of William Petroff. Beyer had no official commission and was assisting in gathering evidence when Petroff, who suspected Beyer of spying, attempted to knock a glass of alleged liquor from Beyer’s hand.
President Coolidge disavows circulating petitions urging his 1928 presidential run. White House officials say he does not approve the activity and sees no benefit, hoping the endless chain efforts in New England stop.
Belief expressed today by physicians that Clarence Ferguson age 34 may lose the sight of an eye after a hunting accident near Bellefontaine. Ferguson was accidentally shot by a brother in law during the hunt yesterday.

Miss Eva Miller, Ohio University 1925 home economics graduate, began as a dietitian at Hotel Berry dining room. She befriended Mrs. George C. Thurn, conductor of the Messenger's cooking school in Athens, and has since served as Thurn's assistant.
Cleveland police ordered seven members of the unemployed council to stop verbal disturbances at city council meetings. Police chief Jacob Graul acted after the seven were arrested and removed from the council chamber following a noisy demonstration that required 16 uniformed officers. They were later released at Central Police Station.
State College reports football relations with Notre Dame will resume next year when Knute Rockne brings the Irish to play the Nittany Lions. The game is set for Franklin Field in Philadelphia on November 3.
Union leaders urge government action amid a wave of injunctions aimed at wage earners in labor disputes. President William Green of the AFL argues such orders violate the Constitution and seek congressional limits on equity powers, citing cases in Pennsylvania Indiana and New York.
