A Southeastern Ohio meeting of state aid superintendents in a Presbyterian church discussed problems of state aid. The group endorsed Dr S K Mardis for chairman of the Common Schools Committee and EF Le Fever for the Senate Finance Committee. Attendees included Senators LeFever Gillen and Milton Scott, Representatives Jones and Berg, and many county superintendents. Deficits facing counties were outlined with amounts needed to pay debts by January 1.
Osborn Engineering representatives returned to Cleveland with definite site data for Ohio University’s stadium on Richland Avenue. New York November 20 An inquiry into the steamer Vestris disaster revealed six coal ports on the ship were not thoroughly inspected before its last voyage. Inspector Edward F. Keane testified that only four ports on each side were examined due to access issues with coal-filled holds.
Dale Kennard of Carbondale pleaded guilty at a morning arraignment before Justice of the Peace S. E. Hedees and was bound over to Athens County Common Pleas Court on a $400 bond. Constable Kenneth Allstock made the arrest.

Berlin, Nov. 20. The Reichstag voiced confidence in Foreign Minister Gustav Stresemann after his declarations on reparations, war debts, and Rhineland evacuation. A motion of no confidence was defeated 219 to 98 with three absent, backed by Communists, Fascists, and the German Landowners.
Three Grove City High School pupils remained in Juvenile Court custody as investigators probe alleged drinking among about a dozen boys. Police seek bootleggers supplying liquor to minors to break up what may be a minor liquor ring. The case emerged after parents complained two boys drank, and a third brought wine from home to share with others.
Governor-Elect Myers Y. Cooper was elected honorary president of the Ohio Council of Churches at its annual meeting in Columbus. Dr. W. H. McMaster was named council president, succeeding Cooper, with Homer Selby Erdis G. Robinson David W. Teachout and W. H. Hoover as officers and Charles F. Johnson treasurer. The assembly praised Hoover’s South American goodwill trip and urged World Court membership plus a congressional commission to review the World Court.
George Allen of Ohio City arraigned in Athens County Probate Court on a non support charge filed by wife Lola Allen. He pleaded not guilty, trial set for November 26, bond set at $500, jail in default. Allen arrived in Athens Sunday from Van Wert with Deputy Sheriff Wayne Wingett after arrest by county officers.
