Three masked gunmen used a 12 foot plank as a bridge to reach the Roxy Burlesque Theater roof. They entered the Great Lakes Life Building by breaking a window on the fourth floor and tied the manager Joseph La Rocca to a chair after stealing $245. They exited by the same plank leaving footprints in the snow.

Explosion of a B 29 bombload killed eight crash crewmen after the aircraft crashed on takeoff from Yokota air base near Tokyo. The bomber’s crew of twelve escaped as the plane swerved and crashed during a bombing mission. Three crewmen were lightly injured. Two American and six Japanese crew members died when the bomb load exploded while helping extinguish the flames.
