Fire at Hiram College destroyed the administration building with an estimated loss of 125000. Students carried out the college records and safe, gymnasium damage will cancel this season's basketball team, and 150 female students cheered from dormitory windows as firefighters fought the blaze.

In Frankfort Michigan a box of human bones was found in dunes near Dr. Alice Wynekoop's Crystal Lake cottage. Coroner F J LaRue believes the remains belong to a murdered person about 50 years old and may have chemical treatment to hasten decay. The bones will be sent to the University of Michigan for analysis.
In Richmond Kentucky two brothers, Lindon Wilson 22 and Alfred Wilson 28, are held in connection with the fatal shooting of Chester Crank 34, father of five. Lindon is wounded and under guard in a hotel. Alfred is jailed. Police tracked them to Preble County Ohio after a tip from Dr. O F Hume who was summoned to treat Lindon.
The Navy General Board recommends building an airship about half the size of the Macon for training while the best use of lighter than air craft in the naval program is studied. Secretary Swanson announced at a press conference that the policy board favors a lighter than air craft with a 2,500,000 cubic foot capacity.
The nude body of six year old Dorothy Ann Distelhurst, abducted on September 14, was found in a shallow grave near Nashville. Identification by dentists and pathologists confirmed the girl was murdered. a rag in the mouth and a dental filling tied to her tooth sealed the case. Police believe an area resident abducted and murdered her.
Six University of Oklahoma students win seats in the Oklahoma House of Representatives directly from campus. Five are law students and one is a sophomore in the arts and sciences school.
Congressman Thomas A. Jenkins reported spending $784.70 in his re election campaign. Congressman Mel G. Underwood reported receipts of 00 and expenditures of $951.65 for his seventh consecutive re election.
In Chicago on an autumn night Mrs. Lucy Willett a 76 year old blind woman knelt in prayer seeking strength for her husband Lawrence also blind. A policeman arriving during her prayer delivered the news that Lawrence age 73 had just died in hospital.
