Foreman at McBee Binder Company Dies in Athens
Isaac Biederman 48 foreman of the special binding department at McBee Binder Company died at his home 135 Morris avenue after a heart illness. He had been in St Louis and Athens recently and died shortly after his forty third birthday. He leaves a widow and two young children, a sister in Dallas and two brothers in St. Louis. Funeral plans call for burial in St. Louis after a 4:24 am Wednesday departure.

Mrs. Chester W. Sater and student driver Paul Mendenhall escaped serious injury. Their car was struck by a sedan. Bryan’s car suffered Fender, running board and side damage while the other vehicle’s front was damaged. Dr. Bryan was at his office the next morning.

Bomb damages two buildings near Hammond Indiana
A large bombing in the Chicago area damaged the State Theater and a church in Hammond Indiana early today. Athens High School Boy Flies Homemade Plane Mercury
Athens 18 year old Arthur Boyles built and piloted a 16 foot bi plane named Mercury in a Sunday flight near Sugar Creek. The craft rose from the field, circled at 200 feet, then landed as wind and cold weather reduced flying comfort. The engine sputtered with higher climbs due to fuel feed, to be corrected next winter. Built in seven weeks, the plane weighs 250 pounds with 600 pound payload capacity and uses a Harley Davidson motorcycle engine. Estimated speeds include 90 mph max and 75 mph cruising.
