In Kotzebue Alaska a 40 foot hydroponic shipping container operated by Arctic Greens is growing kale lettuces basil and other greens for local sale to offset long transport times. The project led by Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corp aims to expand to other rural communities while facing high startup costs and energy needs.
