Franco Condition Still Grave After Operation

Generalissimo Francisco Franco remained in a very grave condition after a three hour operation at the Pardo Palace. Doctors said his pulse and heart beat were normal as anesthesia wore off but note his overall state is perilous due to age and prior heart damage. The operation drained excess abdominal fluid and repaired ulcers and a perforated artery. About eight quarts of blood were transfused during surgery.
