Jail board approves partition plan to add female housing

The Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail board approved a temporary plan to convert 24 male beds to female housing by placing a partition between blocks D and E. The $20 000 project aims to ease female overcrowding while longer term options at up to 3 5 million are explored. Warden VanBibber and sheriffs said discussions must continue for a permanent solution. Local counties report costs to house inmates elsewhere. Morgan County saved about 70 000 by keeping a 12 day jail. The partition could be completed soon and without a bid since under 50 000.
