The German offensive continues on the Aisne and Flanders fronts with heavy countermeasures. British and French numbers are reported as stretched, while reserves arrive behind the Aisne Plateau. American aviators claimed a victory over four German fliers near Lorraine.
American forces report a German gas assault in Lorraine on May 27 using 500 large shells each over three gallons of liquid phosgene. The shells fired simultaneously by electric charge. outcome unknown. The munitions were recently moved into the sector, likely from the Toul area May 8, and German gas units were observed as a moving gas circus by American officers who warned troops.
The long range bombardment of Paris resumed yesterday after a several week cessation and began again today as reports confirm renewed shelling and air activity over the capital.
Superior Wisconsin 60 soldiers in France and over a dozen in training camps hail from the Couderay Indian reservation near Hayward. Superintendent Jasper Cross states 1277 Indians are enrolled and enlistment has drawn nearly all eligible men. About 80 percent of those serving volunteered.

Hempstead May 28 Flying Cadet Charles B Passwater 25 Nobleville Indiana was killed instantly at Mineola Aviation Field in a 2000 foot fall. He attempted a tailspin at altitude but lost control and crashed to the ground.
British and French troops counter-attacked southwest of Ypres as Allied reserves arrived on the Seissons front. Despite German gains between Locre and Loos early today, counter attacks regained ground amid heavy gas shelling in the Amiens region and Aisne Heights. More than 100 German divisions are reported in reserve for the Kaiser's offensive.
London May 28 three hundred casualties resulted from the recent bombing of the hospitals at Etaples France by German airmen Andrew Bonar Law stated in Commons this afternoon He said a full report had been asked for.
