Memorial Day Observance Plans For Nelsonville
Nelsonville's Memorial Day events are set with Rev. Lloyd Evans delivering the address at Greenlawn Cemetery on Tuesday morning May 30. Ed ward Carter heads the arrangements committee, Fred H. Mulligan WWI veteran named parade marshal, and the parade assembles at 9:30 a.m. with the high school band leading from the Legion Building along a route to the old cemetery where services will be held at the Unknown Soldier grave by the Woman's Relief Corps.

Veterans from all wars and World War II servicemen home on leave join a parade through Murray City to Greenlawn Cemetery. The program includes a 6 gun salute and taps with a firing squad of sailors if possible. Pupils receive flags. organizations such as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars participate. Citizens urged to donate cars to shuttle band and veterans.

Bicycle Riding On Walks Prohibited In Nelsonville
Mayor Miles Howe announced a city ordinance bans bicycle riding on sidewalks and directs police to enforce it after an elderly resident was knocked down on W Washington Street. The rule also requires proper lights on moving vehicles at night for cyclists after dark.

York Township Service Club met May 22 at the American Legion Building with Mrs. Parker Sniffen presiding. They reported $25 raised from rummage sales and meetings and scheduled June 30 as Cookie Day to send cookies to Fletcher Hospital, Cambridge.
