Gallia County Democratic Central Committee met Wednesday electing Hoyt Webster as chairman and Marable Haffelt as secretary treasurer. The committee named seven candidates for the executive committee to direct the fall campaign and approved local party leaders for various townships and wards. Also, Kenna Hughes faced a peace warrant arraignment in Point Pleasant, ordered to post bond for six months or serve six months in jail.

Aged Resident Plans Denver Visit from Cleveland

Mrs. Eva Barlow, 87, longtime Island Side resident now in Cleveland with son Capt. Alfred M. Barlow, will leave Saturday to visit her sister Mrs. Grace Brown Ross in Denver. She will fly Cleveland to Chicago and then take a streamline limited train to Colorado's capital.

Mary Ann Plymale to wed Navy Petty Officer Wolfe in early summer

Gallipolis announces the engagement of Mary Ann Plymale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley A. Plymale, to Robert Hill Wolfe, Navy petty officer first class. The couple, both Gallia Academy High School graduates, plan a summer wedding. Wolfe is the youngest of three brothers in service.

Student Nurses Transition to Cadet Duty at Naval and Marine Hospitals

Six Holzer Hospital nursing graduates have started cadet duties as of May first, with Dorothy Langdon of Gallipolis and Mary Standley of Pomeroy assigned to the Naval Hospital in Seattle. Hazel Smith of Coalition and Helen Standing of Gallipolis joined the Marine Hospital in Baltimore on May 6, while Charlotte Scott and Betty Faulkner were sent to the Winnebago Reservation in Nebraska this week. Up to half the top students may become cadet nurses, or must complete essential civilian nursing to graduate.

Rural Life Sunday Program Is Planned

Rev. R. P. Mc Carley announced the Rural Life Service for next Sunday at 8 o clock in the Ohio Valley Grange Hall. The program includes songs, readings, instrumental music, talks by Basil Evans and County Agent Everett G Royer, and a closing prayer and hymn.

Mrs Onstott Dies Suddenly In Mansfield

Mrs Anna Long Onstott 73 died suddenly at her Mansfield home Wednesday night. She was mother to Mrs Martha Spear and grandmother to Mrs Mary Ann Crawford and Miss Grace Derry Wetherholt. Survived by another daughter and grandchild, Grace Noble and Clyde E Noble Jr. in the armed forces. Widowed 22 years ago, she served as an assistant to pastors and lectured on Methodism founding research. Funeral Saturday at First Methodist Mansfield with burial in Willard.

The War Food Administration's division of distribution will announce a nationwide reorganization plan reducing state and area offices from 240 to about 65, consolidating operations to streamline food distribution during the war effort.

Point Pleasant Attorney Is Elected Delegate to Democratic Convention

George G. Somerville, a Point Pleasant attorney, is elected delegate from West Virginia's Fourth District to the Democratic national convention in Chicago. In the district results Buford C. Tynes leads Cabell County. Somerville gains in Mason and the remaining ten counties. Final Republican selections and full district totals were not yet announced.

Scouts Open Camporee at Dr Fadeley Farm East of Point Pleasant

Boy Scout Camporee runs from today through Sunday at the Dr Fadeley farm near Charleston Road east of Point Pleasant. About 100 boys from eight Mason County troops and 30 from two Gallipolis troops attend with scoutmasters McKinzie and Saunders. Blaine Bell directs, Rev W C Stearns handles registrations judging and Sunday services, Elwyn Bull leads contests and activities. local troops and leaders include Walter Hickman, Raymond Stewart, Joe Grimm, Propps, Sherwood Costen and T C Caudill.

The Woman's Auxiliary of the Southern Presbyterian Church met in the church social rooms under president Mrs. W T Morgan and held devotions led by Mrs Peter H Steenbergen. State distributes funds to cover teachers pay rise

Distribution of 417,956 by the state to fund a 25 monthly salary increase for teachers was announced in Charleston yesterday. Mason county's share is 12,000.
