Captain Charles Lindbergh faces a packed schedule of receptions and calls after his New York to Paris flight. He visits Le Bourget to inspect the Ryan monoplane damaged slightly by the Paris welcome, tail skid broken and fabric torn but no serious harm.
TREPASSEY Newfoundland May 23 UPI Col Francesco de Pinedo started from Trepassey at 2 55 a m EDT for the Azores on the final leg of his four continent flight. He lightened the craft by 400 pounds discarding the wireless set leaving the plane without communication gear for the voyage across the Atlantic about 1500 miles away.
After landing in Paris, Lindbergh received by President Doumergue and pledged accolades from Premier Poincare and Foreign Minister Briand. He praised Nungesser and Coli, visited Madame Nungesser, helped drape the tomb of the unknown soldier, and planned further public appearances amid crowds and receptions. He spoke with his Detroit mother by radio and planned to return by boat.

Washington May 23 An American birdman has conquered the Atlantic. Assistant Secretary of Commerce William P. MacCracken predicts the United States will seek to master the Pacific and Antarctic seas by air. He says a Trans-Pacific flight to Manila is among future projects and Lindbergh's success could spur an early South Pole attempt.
United Press reports Captain Charles Lindbergh describing sleet and fog over the Atlantic, how he rose to 10 000 feet to clear a storm, and his cautious approach near Le Bourget. He noted fuel use of 451 gallons to cover 33 hours, with 50 gallons remaining, and discussed landing risks and future commercial feasibility.
The Federal Radio commission announces a complete reallocation of wave and power assignments for broadcasting around New York and Chicago and will extend the plan nationwide. Stations must start under the new system June 1 and complaints will be considered after the plan has been tested. The reform uses kilocycle ratings rather than meters to indicate position and groups stations by geographic area within 100 miles of a principal city. When multiple stations share a kilocycle, they must divide time.
Cleveland May 23 An increase of one cent in gasoline price at all Ohio Standard Oil stations takes effect at 12:01 a m Wednesday. The rise is to offset the one-cent tax increase in the state gasoline levy, announced by A J Mills vice president.
The Dynamiter notes this is the only available image of Andrew Kehoe the man who dynamited the Bath Michigan schoolhouse killing 36 pupils and five adults before taking his own life. Kehoe allegedly turned deranged after a farm mortgage foreclosure.

A savvy manager might net 500000 from movie roles. vaudeville could pay half that for a year. Writing earnings could reach 100000 and royalties 46000. testimonials sold to manufacturers might fetch 50900 to 100000 each. First National and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer reportedly bid, with no Paris word on his urge to earn. The offers could prompt a rapid, high paying job.
Orville Wright praised Charles Lindbergh as the standout achievement in aviation since the first successful flight at Kitty Hawk on December 17, 1903. Wright spoke in Dayton on Lindbergh Day and hailed the youth for his record breaking solo crossing of the Atlantic.

In New Orleans on May 23, twelve hundred convicts at Angola Prison joined about 1,000 free Negro workers to build a sandbag levee wall thirty feet high to hold back the Atchafalaya river flood. The barrier protected six parishes and around 50,000 residents as engineers warned of possible failure.

In Columbus on May 23 the club reported membership increases and satisfactory progress in all departments during a business session led by President Carl H. Kansas City.
