Ten Missing In Fire At Sea Off Baja California

A Norwegian freighter Sandanger burned off Baja California with ten missing including the captain after fire and explosions. Forty five survivors were rescued by the German freighter Bodenstein as coast guard crews halted search amid heavy seas and many life rafts found overturned. The Sandanger was en route from Long Beach to Le Havre via the Panama Canal and cargo of cotton bales and wood pulp fed the blaze.

Three Die In Fire In Columbus Flat

A brick flat on Columbus east side burned early today killing Garfield Boggs in his late seventies Roberta Baker aged 47 and an unidentified man about 54.
