Passing of Mahlon Moore at Athens Home
Mahlon Moore respected Athens citizen died Saturday noon at his College street home after a seven month illness due to old age. Funeral Tuesday at 1 pm at the Presbyterian church with Dr. G Walton King and Dr. W L Slutz. burial in the new cemetery. Survived by five of nine children Mary E Moore Charles E Moore Mrs C H Minton Harry L Moore and Mrs E F Coe. He was born October 11 1825 in Easton Pennsylvania and moved to Athens in 1853. He married Celinda Lowery in 1845. wife died 1886. He lived in Athens over fifty years and ran a repair shop on College street. He was a Lutheran church member and had fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Death of a Pioneer Samuel Barnhill Dies at 80
Samuel Barnhill aged 80 dies at his son William Barnhill home five miles south of Athens after a long old age illness. His wife died last January. He leaves six sons and three daughters. Funeral services were held yesterday at 10 at the Bates church by Rev. Hurley. Interment followed in Bates cemetery.
