City lagging behind OU urged to modernize civic plant
Gordon K. Bush publisher of The Messenger told Athens Rotary that the city is complacently lagging behind Ohio University in physical development. He said OU will soon have over 2 million dollars for permanent improvements and a higher enrollment after the GI rush, but Athens must organize citizen support for bond funded projects including a better water and sewer system and street work. He urged a citizens' group to push public opinion to align city growth with university progress and attract industrial development and employment.
